Hybrid system guide

Comfy hybrid package

Bosch heat pump
+ Bosch furnaceInverter heat-pump comfort.
Bosch gas heat for the colder days.

A Bosch IDS Edge heat pump handles electric heating and summer cooling. A compatible Bosch gas furnace supplies fuel-fired heat when called for. Comfy selects the equipment and configures the controls around your home, ductwork and comfort priorities.

Comfort through the seasons

Two ways to heat.
One system for your home.

The thermostat manages the change between heat sources using the settings chosen for the installation. You choose the comfort temperature.

01

Electric heating

The inverter-driven heat pump varies its output as demand changes, moving outdoor heat inside within the selected system’s operating range.

02

Gas-fired heating

The furnace provides heat when the controls call for it. Its role depends on the home’s heating demand, outdoor conditions and configured changeover settings.

03

Summer cooling

The same heat pump reverses operation to move warmth out of the house. The indoor coil and blower deliver cooling through your ductwork.

A changeover point chosen for your home.

We consider winter capacity, comfort priorities, electricity and fuel rates, and the control setup. Automatic switching does not mean live utility-price optimization. Operating savings depend on the system, weather, rates and use.

The equipment, explained

Bosch gas furnace

A gas furnace heats the air distributed through your ducts. The illustrated BGH97 family uses two-stage gas heating and a constant-airflow ECM blower, with lower and higher firing stages to suit different heating demands.

The BGH97 is one example, not a promise of the final furnace model. We choose the furnace capacity, orientation, indoor coil and controls together, checking venting, clearances and the approved equipment match.

Same-brand equipment still needs a complete plan.

The BGH97 is communication-ready for compatible latest-generation Bosch IDS systems. The exact outdoor unit, furnace, indoor coil, thermostat and wiring must still be selected as a complete installation.

We verify the communication arrangement, staging, airflow and refrigerant-safety requirements before startup. A brand name alone does not establish an equipment match or efficiency rating.

Easy to live with

ElitePRO S1200.
Your choice of black or white.

The 5-inch touchscreen keeps daily adjustments simple. The First Alert app supports scheduling, remote control and alerts. Optional compatible room sensors can help the controls respond to the spaces you care about.

Matter supports integration with Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa. Wi-Fi, internet, apps and a compatible Matter controller or hub may be needed; available functions depend on the platform and setup.

“The S1200 has proven versatile and reliable in our installations, and we have not experienced any issues with it.”

Why we include an EIM

The equipment interface module connects at the heating and cooling equipment. RedLINK 3.0 handles wireless communication with the thermostat; two suitable existing wall wires can supply 24-volt power, which may avoid pulling a new cable through finished walls.

Compatible humidity and ventilation accessories are selected and configured separately. Equipment and wired accessories still need local wiring.

Included media filtration

Cleaner air starts
with the right fit.

Every Comfy hybrid installation includes a media air cleaner, with no separate media-air-cleaner add-on charge. We select AprilAire or Dust Free options around the required airflow, available space and approved equipment-support arrangement.

Installation constraints may require a different media-filter product. When that happens, we’ll aim to select an alternative with equivalent filtration performance and suitable airflow.

Proper filtration helps keep air-side coils and heat exchangers cleaner and may reduce the need for costly cleaning. A filter’s performance and replacement interval depend on the selected product and the conditions in your home.

Taking care of your system

A little attention.
A clear service plan.

Keep the equipment manuals and follow their maintenance schedule. Arrange professional service for both heating and cooling operation, even if one heat source runs less often.

Between visits

  • Check the media filter and replace it as directed.
  • Keep indoor supply and return grilles clear.
  • Keep leaves, debris and stored items away from the outdoor unit and service access.
  • Contact us about new noises, recurring alerts, leaks or rooms that stop staying comfortable.

During professional care

  • Check heat-pump operation, coils, airflow and electrical connections.
  • Inspect furnace operation, combustion, venting and condensate drainage as the manufacturer requires.
  • Check furnace staging and the blower’s configured airflow.
  • Check thermostat settings and the change between heat sources.

Media filtration protects air-side components. It does not replace combustion-side or water-side maintenance. Service and cleaning needs vary by model and operating conditions.

Understand your coverage

Installation warranty.
Manufacturer protection.

These cover different things. Keep the written installation agreement, product warranty certificates, registration confirmations and service records together.

Comfy

3-year installation warranty

Comfy provides a 3-year installation warranty. Your installation agreement explains its scope and exclusions.

This does not mean every part, labor charge or future repair is covered for three years.

Bosch IDS Edge heat pump

Eligible original purchasers in one- or two-family homes receive 10-year limited coverage for the compressor and internal components at the original installation location. Registration is not required for this term.

Accessories can carry different coverage. Labor, exclusions and other conditions are governed by the certificate. Read the Bosch IDS warranty

Bosch BGH97 example

Base coverage is 5 years for parts and 20 years for primary and secondary heat exchangers. For an eligible residential installation, registration within 60 days extends this to 10-year limited parts and limited-lifetime heat-exchanger coverage.

Enhanced terms apply to the original purchaser at the original location. These are BGH97 terms; a different Bosch furnace may have different coverage. Read the BGH97 warranty

This is a residential overview, not the warranty contract. Commercial use, ownership changes, installation location, maintenance and product selection can change coverage. Thermostats, filters and communication accessories do not automatically inherit the furnace or heat-pump warranty.

Before you decide

Questions we hear.

Will this always cost less to operate than my current system?

There is no universal savings figure. We need the equipment’s performance, your current system, electricity and fuel prices, and how the home is used to make a meaningful comparison. A higher efficiency rating alone does not predict your bill.

How do you decide when the furnace takes over?

We compare the home’s heating demand with the heat pump’s output at winter temperatures and consider operating costs and comfort. We configure the changeover and lockout settings for the selected controls, rather than applying one temperature to every home.

Is the BGH97 definitely the furnace I will receive?

The BGH97 is the example shown here. Your proposal will name the selected furnace, heat pump, indoor coil and controls after we check capacity, installation orientation, compatibility and availability.

Will the gas furnace heat my house during a power outage?

The furnace still needs electricity for its blower, controls and other components. A hybrid system does not by itself provide heating during a power outage.

Can this fix rooms that are always too hot or cold?

New equipment may help, but duct sizing, return-air paths, insulation and room-by-room loads also matter. Tell us which rooms are uncomfortable so we can investigate the cause and include any needed work in the proposal.

Do I need to buy every optional smart accessory?

No. Optional room sensors, humidity or ventilation equipment and smart-home accessories depend on your needs and the compatible setup. Your proposal will make clear what is included and what is optional.
